Abelmoschus esculentus

Okra belongs to the hibiscus plants and forms elongated, pointed, green fruits.

The plants like warmth and thrive best in high humidity. The young fruits are used in many oriental and Asian dishes and can also be frozen well. Okra prefers a humus rich soil, grows about 1.20 m high and also has beautiful flowers. The taste of the pods is rather mild, somewhat tart and sourly spicy. They are harvested young at a length of about 10 cm and grown with a support similar to peppers.

Distance: 60 x 30 cm
